ABSTRACT
Colorado Wickiups: An Archaeological Context and
the Wickiup Database
Curtis Martin, Principal Investigator, Colorado Wickiup Project
The various types of Protohistoric wooden structures that are found in archaeological contexts are reviewed, including prehistoric and historic retrospectives. The "state of the state" of Protohistoric site analysis and field methodology is discussed as are proposed directions for future analysis. The Colorado Wickiup Database is introduced and a call-to-action is made for statewide support on what is perceived as a crucial need for documenting the ephemeral structures that are left in Colorado.
